A COUNCIL rubbish lorry overturned on a narrow road near Heriot last week, writes Sally Gillespie.
The accident, involving only the refuse truck, took place near Cortleferry in the early afternoon.
A local said: “The road has been subsiding there. I don’t know if it slipped off but I think the banking must have pulled it down and it just went over. There’s been quite a few accidents around about there.”
A Scottish Borders Council spokesman said this week an internal investigation into the incident was just about complete.
He said: “A council refuse vehicle was involved in an accident at Cortleferry at around 1.30pm on Wednesday August 10. No other vehicles were involved. Two workers received minor injuries and an internal investigation into the incident is ongoing. It’s a standard internal investigation being carried out by the roads and fleet section, the results of which are not being made public.”
