‘Improved’ for who?

I wonder whether other readers were as insulted as I was by the recent leaflet put through our doors by the Post Office.

“Your new improved Post Office”, it proclaims, telling us that opening times will be reduced and that the Post Office will now be closed on Saturdays – the only day when some people can get to it.

A couple of years ago we had two Post Offices in Selkirk dedicated to helping the public. Now we have one dedicated to maximising its shareholders’ profits. So, “improved” for who?

Am I the only person who thinks serving the community should be the Post Office’s prime responsibility?
