Elected: Willie Archibald (SNP), Catriona Bhatia (LD), Nathaniel Buckingham (Con). Also stood: Nancy Norman (LD), David Pye (Borders Party), Julia Reid (Lab).

First preference votes – Bhatia 919, Buckingham 885, Archibald 780, Reid 336, Norman 334, Pye 333.

Bhatia was elected at stage one, Buckingham at stage four and Archibald at stage five.

Tweeddale East

Electorate 8,176

Valid ballots 3,749; turnout 46.25 per cent; quota of votes for each candidate to be elected 938.

Elected: Stuart Bell (SNP), Gavin Logan (Con), Graham Garvie (Lib Dem). Also stood: David Cox (Ind), Frances Pringle (Borders Party), Robin Tatler (Lab).

First preference votes – Bell 990, Logan 929, Garvie 614, Tatler 571, Pringle 345, Cox 300.

Bell was elected at stage one, Mr Logan at stage three and Garvie at stage six.

Galashiels and District

Valid ballots 3,657; turnout 33.82 per cent; quota of votes for each candidate to be elected 732.

Elected: Sandy Aitchison (Borders Party), Bill Herd (SNP), John Mitchell (SNP, Bill White (Ind). Also stood: Rick Kenney (LD), Fiona Lackenby (Con), Robbie Tatler (Lab).

First preference votes – Aitchison 822, Herd 766, White 501, Mitchell 492, Kenney 417, Lackenby 386, Tatler 273.

Aitchison and Herd were elected at stage one, Mitchell and White at stage six.

Selkirkshire

Valid ballots 3,327; turnout 42.36 per cent; quota of votes for each candidate to be elected 823.

Elected: Michelle Ballantyne (Con), Vicky Davidson (LD), Gordon Edgar (Ind). Also stood: Kenneth Gunn (SNP), Leven Brown (Borders Party) Gordon Harrison.

First preference votes – Ballantyne 799, Gunn 671, Davidson 649, Edgar 597, Brown 299, Harrison 276.

Ballantyne was elected at stage two, Davidson and Edgar at stage five.

Leaderdale and Melrose

Elected: David Parker (Ind), Nicholas Watson (Borders Party), Jim Torrance (SNP. Also stood: Peter Duncan (Con), John Paton-Day (LD), Agnes Craig (Lab).

First preference votes – Parker 1,304, Watson 621, Torrance 558, Duncan 441, Paton-Day 439, Craig 225.

Parker was elected at stage one, Watson at stage four and Torrance at stage six.

Mid Berwickshire

Valid ballots 3,481; turnout 42.4 per cent; quota of votes for each candidate to be elected 871.

Elected: Donald Moffat (SNP, John Greenwell (Con), Frances Renton (LD). Also stood: Trevor Jones (Con), Tom Miers (Borders Party).

First preference votes – Moffat 1,133, Greenwell 747, Renton 635, Miers 534, Jones 432.

Moffat was elected at stage one, Greenwell at stage three and Renton at stage five.

East Berwickshire

Valid ballots 3,437; turnout 41 per cent; quota of votes for each candidate to be elected 860.

Elected: Michael Cook (Ind), Jim Fullarton (Con), Joan Campbell (SNP). Also stood: Jack Johnston (Ind), Kenryck Lloyd-Jones (Lab), Cat Macdonald-Home (Borders Party), Ken Webb (LD).

First preference votes – Cook 1,236, Fullarton 730, Campbell 541, Lloyd-Jones 435, Webb 226, Johnston 136, Macdonald-Home 133.

Cook was elected at stage one, Fullarton at stage three and Campbell at stage seven.

Kelso and District

Valid ballots 3,240; turnout 39.31 per cent; quota of votes for each candidate to be elected 811.

Elected: Alec Nicol (LD), Tom Weatherston (Con), Simon Mountford (Con). Also stood: Yvonne Huggins-Haig (Ind), Colin McGrath (Ind), Michael Scott (Green), Maggie Stanfield (SNP), Diana Miers (Borders Party).

First preference votes – Weatherston 777, Nicol 729, Mountford 463, Stanfield 413, Huggins-Haig 324, Miers 253, McGrath 165, Scott 116.

Nicol and Weatherston were elected at stage four, Mountford at stage eight.

Jedburgh and District
