Murray Charters was re-elected chairman of St Ronan’s Silver Band at the annual general meeting.
There was a large attendance of band members and members of the public at the meeting where secretary Keith Belleville reviewed an eventful year. Treasurer Mark Cockburn presented the audited accounts.
The following officials were elected to serve for 2012/13: bandmaster, D. Robb; chairman, Murray Charters; vice-chairman, David Allan; secretary, Keith Belleville; treasurer, Mark Cockburn; committee: S. Hamilton, J. Keddie, J. McCubbin, A. Pichlmayer, L. Smith R. Soutter; librarian, D. Allan; assistant librarian, G. Adam; band sergeant, D. Lindsay; band corporal, D. Phillips; Future Band secretary, Adrianne Robb. L. Wilson was appointed again as the independent examiner. Jackie Laidlaw and Bob Heaney were appointed to the honorary positions of president and vice-president respectively.
At the annual presentation night, bandmaster David Robb awarded the Player of the Year title to the front row cornet section of David Richardson, Ian Aitchison, Liam Orr and Douglas Couchman. The Band Member of the Year award went to Douglas Couchman.
St Ronan’s Silver Band is organising an Innerleithen youth brass band contest in St Ronan’s Community School on September 22.
The band is to perform a concert in the Memorial Hall on September 29. As well as the main band, the concert will feature the Future Band. Tickets for the event are on sale at Adam’s Bakery, Innerleithen; Robb’s KeyStore, Peebles; or by phoning 01896 831721.
