Some of the best Christmas amateur song videos of recent years have gone viral after being uploaded to the internet, often receiving millions of hits.

Southern Reporter editor Susan Windram believes the Borders is packed with creative and talented individuals, especially those with musical talent, and the Christmas period is one of the best for amateur singers in the region.

“Here in the Borders we have a wealth of musical talent – from singers in the many amateur opera societies, local and church choirs, and bands, or musicians who play an instrument in their town’s silver band,” she said this week.

“Not to mention the many children who perform at their school’s nativity event. So this Christmas we thought it would be fun to spread some cheer around and are asking you, our readers, to send us a video of you and your friends, colleagues, choir or band members performing a Christmas song or tune. We’re sure you will enjoy creating them, as much as our readers will enjoy viewing them.”

So what are you waiting for? It could not be easier – when your video is completed, simply plug your mobile phone into your computer, then visit our website (www.southernreporter.co.uk) and click the UCG video button on the home page.
