A BORDERS-woven tartan had a starring role on the Hollywood red carpet rolled out for the recent launch of Disney Pixar’s Scottish-themed animated movie, Brave.
Well-known Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis, who sings on the film’s soundtrack, wore couture featuring Selkirk-based Lochcarron of Scotland’s Loch Ness tartan to the world premiere in Los Angeles.
Scottish couturier Sandra Murray created a series of stunning designs for Ms Fowlis for her red carpet appearances at the glittering event and for when she appears at the European premiere in Edinburgh on June 30.
Two original songs performed by the singer are among the film’s musical highlights in this epic fantasy adventure set in the rugged Highlands of Scotland.
Ms Murray said: “The garments were created in close collaboration with Julie, who loves beautiful fabrics but whose preference is for understatement.
“This has been an incredible project to work on – I’ve always been inspired by the Scottish Highland landscape and my designs embody that.”
