FORMER Housemartins and Beautiful South frontman Paul Heaton has a date at Clovenfords Hotel.

He is getting back on his bike for the 50:50 tour to mark his 50th birthday, pedalling 2,500 miles across the UK and Ireland and performing in pubs.

Paul Turner of the Clovenfords Hotel, said: “I have always been a huge fan of the Beautiful South and more in hope than expectation, I contacted the organisers to see if the Clovenfords could be included. We have a 200-capacity marquee for the gig at the back of the pub. It should be a great night.”

A spokesman for Heaton, whose latest album, Paul Heaton Presents the 8th is out in July, added: “It is a great chance to see Paul in very intimate surroundings playing songs crafted close to our hearts, songs from his extensive back catalogue, and some new ones too.”

As with his previous tour, fans are encouraged to cycle to each show, and join Paul on his route which begins on May 15 and ends on June 23.

The Clovenfords Hotel gig is on Saturday, May 19, at 8pm, with tickets priced at £15. Contact 01896 850203 or 01750 725480 for more details.
