SEVEN nominees from NHS Borders have been shortlisted for the Scottish Health Awards, which recognise and reward dedicated staff, support workers, volunteers and specialist teams.
Nominations had been sought from patients and relatives, with two individuals and five teams from the local health board having made the awards shortlist. The national finalists will be announced next week.
Those shortlisted are: Lillian Irvine, smoking cessation advisor; Jacques Kerr, accident and emergency consultant; bedbusters team; early years assessment team; Margaret Kerr Unit nursing team; NHS Borders stroke services; and the critical care outreach team.
John Raine, NHS Borders chairman, said: “Every day the skill and dedication of our staff makes a difference to people’s lives.
“This is a great opportunity for NHS staff to be recognised for the valuable work they do. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who took the time to nominate this year.
“The finalists are announced next week and I wish all seven of our NHS Borders shortlisted nominees the very best of luck.”
The finalists will attend the awards ceremony on November 7 at the Corn Exchange, Edinburgh.
