A MAN from the central Borders has been diagnosed with swine flu, TheSouthern can reveal.
He was admitted to Borders General Hospital in the lead-up to Christmas with flu-like symptoms, which have now been confirmed as the H1N1 virus.
NHS Borders’ Dr Alan Mordue said at-risk groups should get themselves vaccinated.
He added: “As is normal during the flu season, the hospital is continuing to manage a number of patients with flu or flu-like illnesses who require hospital admission. The commonest flu virus circulating across the country is Influenza A (H1N1) and, not surprisingly, some of the cases being managed locally are also of this type.”
