Above, Minister for Sport, Health Improvement and Mental Health, Jamie Hepburn; Senior Charge Nurse Lorraine Mcleod; Christine Grahame MSP; and Evelyn Rodger, NHS Borders Director of Nursing and Midwifery chat at Haylodge Hospital in Peebles on Friday.

Ms Grahame took the opportunity to rubbish recent reports she termed ‘scare stories’ that claimed the hospital was under threat of closure as part of a health service review.

“The Minister and I were told that nursing care in hospitals like Hay Lodge is the way forward, not keeping people in Borders General Hospital, unless it is absolutely necessary,” she said. “The only threat to local health services is Tory plans to slash Scottish Government funding by £3billion.”
