A woman who died in a house fire in Hawick’s Fisher Avenue last Wednesday has been named as 45-year-old Kelly Falconer, who was originally from Surrey.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 4.03pm on Wednesday, April 13, to a fire at Fisher Avenue in Hawick.

“Three appliances from Hawick and Selkirk were sent to the incident and on arrival were faced with a well-developed fire.

“Firefighters discovered one female fatality within the property and our thoughts are with the family at this sad time.”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed that Kelly’s body had been found in the property.

The spokeswoman added: “A joint investigation with the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service was initiated and the circumstances surrounding the fire and Kelly’s death were found to be non-suspicious.”
