CY (Caddonfoot Youth) has been looking at harvest and how they celebrate God’s bountiful creation.
And on Sunday in Caddonfoot Church, Trina Bird led them and the congregation in a Harvest Gift Sunday. Mrs Bird said: “We have been thinking about what we need for a good harvest and all the people who are involved. Christian Aid is highlighting the plight of Brazilian Nut pickers who are in danger of losing their livelihoods because of major forest clearances and we heard about a little girl of eight years old called Dielem who, with her family, harvest these nuts.”
The story was related by James Macfarlane, and he was joined by Mrs Bird, fellow leader Claire Macfarlane and the children.
Later, the many gifts were taken to Galashiels Food Bank for delivery.
The Reverend Marion Dodd led the congregation with harvest hymns and lessons were read by session clerk Anne Grieve.
There will be a brief kirk session meeting this Sunday at 9.30am, ahead of the holy communion service.
The annual sale of work will be held in the Volunteer Hall, Galashiels, on Saturday, November 9.
