Hafla belly-dance Christmas

The Borders’ calendar of cultural events in 2012 is drawing to a close with a belly dance, as the Christmas Hafla shimmies into Peebles’ Eastgate Theatre at 7.30pm tomorrow.

The annual show by Borders Arabic Dance is described as “a journey across the Arabic world in dance”.

The name “Hafla” comes from the Arabic “khafla”, which means a get-together or party.

A spokesperson for the group explained the line-up of performers at this exotic gathering: “The show features dancers from ‘Club Bellydance’, who supported the Bellydance Superstars on their recent British tour, our own Peebles dancers, and the famous and hilarious Neimah as your compere for the evening.

“Don’t miss this opportunity to leave the everyday behind and dive into a star-studded world of glitz and glamour. Relax with wonderful music, from classical Arabic to Egyptian pop and much more.”

Tickets cost £10. Contact the box office on 01721 725777 or go to www.eastgatearts.com for more information.
