Gunn to stand in May elections

Councillor Kenneth Gunn has been reselected by the SNP to stand for the Selkirkshire ward at the Scottish Borders Council elections in May.

Mr Gunn will join Stuart Bell, secretary of Clovenfords community council, who will stand in Tweeddale East, and Tweedbank community councillor Jim Torrance who will take his chances in Leaderdale and Melrose.

In Selkirkshire, Mr Gunn will face challenges from sitting Lib Dem councillor Vicky Davidson and from Michelle Ballantyne, the Tories’ choice after Carolyn Riddell-Carre said she would step down.

He will also be opposed by Gordon Edgar (Independent), who represented Old Selkirk on SBC until 2007.
