Gala’s young musicians get their first gig

Gala Youth Band to make first Concert Appearance on Friday 20th May'The Youth Band will be making their first public appearance as part of the Town Band's upcoming joint concert with Penicuik Silver Band. The concert is in Trinity Church, Galashiels, on Friday 20th May at 7:30pm. 'Galashiels Youth Band was formally launched 2 months ago and is made up of Primary 5 and Primary 6 pupils from local schools. The band's Musical Director, Stuart Black said "The young people in the youth band have all made a tremendous effort and I'm delighted they will be playing at the concert. It's great that they are going to get this early opportunity to experience the buzz of public performance. I hope we get a big crowd to cheer them on."'The intention is that the Youth Band will go on to take part in the National Youth Championships later on this year as well as future concerts.

GALASHIELS Youth Band will be making its first public appearance at tomorrow’s joint concert with Penicuik Silver Band in Trinity Church, Galashiels.

Launched two months ago, Galashiels Youth Band is made up of primary five and primary six pupils from local schools.

The band’s musical director, Stuart Black, said: “The young people in the youth band have all made a tremendous effort and I’m delighted they will be playing at the concert.

“It’s great that they are going to get this early opportunity to experience the buzz of public performance. I hope we get a big crowd to cheer them on.”

The intention is that the youth band will go on to take part in the National Youth Championships later on this year as well as future concerts.

The concert begins at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £6 (£4 concessions) – visit The PaperChain on Bank Street, Galashiels.
