YOUNG Irish dancers from Galashiels have been showing the rest of the country how it’s done.
The 10-strong troupe from the Ward School of Irish Dance attended the British Open Irish Dance Championships in London earlier this month – and they brought back nine top-five cups and more than 20 medals between them.
Teacher Joanne McGowan described the results as “incredible”.
The cups included a first place in the nine years and under boys, 13 and under girls and 17 and under girls categories.
The dancers competing were Kara Doogan, Angel Inglis, Liam Cash, Jenna McMillan, Carly Taylor, Katy Millar, Rebecca Frankland, Eilis Walsh, Kirsty Marks and Kirsty Summers.
Miss McGowan continued: “We are having a very busy month and the kids are very excited as we are also having a showcase at the Volunteer Hall this weekend.”
The performances will take place on Saturday at 2pm and 7pm, and the following day at 2pm. Tickets at the door and there will be a raffle at each show in support of the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust.
