Galashiels Burns Club has confirmed the toast list for next month’s annual supper, which will take place in the Volunteer Hall.

Delivering The Immortal Memory of Robert Burns will be Peter C. Brown, retired accountant and famously known for that dramatic last-gasp conversion which won the Calcutta Cup 16-15 against England at Twickenham in 1971.

Galashiels-born Brian Holton, the only currently publishing translator of Chinese-Scots in the world, will propose the toast to the
Lassies.

Former school head teacher Dr Colin Russell, chairman of the International Congress of Educational Leadership Societies, will address Land O Cakes Caledonia.

Giving the vote of thanks will be long-standing club member Tommy Turnbull.

The annual supper will be held on Friday, January 23, at 6.30pm.

Tickets, priced £23 (including £1 membership), are now available from committee members.
