FORMER Snow Patrol member Iain Archer is performing live at this year’s Solas Festival, running from the June 24 to 26.
His appearance is sure to be a crowd-pleaser and he will be just one of the many highlights of the weekend.
Following a successful first year, Solas Festival, in the beautiful surroundings of Wiston Lodge, near Biggar, continues to showcase some of the best Scottish music, drama, literature and more.
As well as being a celebration of culture and debate, the festival is designed for families to enjoy together, running an intergenerational family-friendly programme wherever possible.
Day visitors, weekend campers and locals will all find something to delight in within the rich and original programme.
Alongside workshops, films and discussions, there are many musical acts performing over the duration of the weekend.
Emma Pollok, a Scottish singer, songwriter and guitarist who was a founding member of the Delagados before they split in 2005 is someone else in the line-up for the weekend who is sure to be popular with the crowds. Other musical performances will include Michael Marra, Aerials Up and RURA.
Also featuring this year is a mix of folk music from Rachel Sermanni and Julia and the Doogans, as well as David Ferrard and Alex Cornish.
Emily Smith, winner of the Young Traditional Musician Award in 2002 and the Scots Singer of the Year in 2008 will be performing.
