INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed percussionist Simone Rebello will play at St Ronan’s Silver Band’s spring concert.
Simone graduated with distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music in 1991 to embark on a career as a solo percussionist in which she has recorded several CDs, the latest with the BBC Singers.
She is a founder member of BackBeat Percussion Quartet who have won a number of chamber music competitions.
She has also worked with several pop artists including Beverley Knight, Alexandra Burke and Mika.
Simone is also an experienced adjudicator of percussion events, wind and brass contests and general music competitions. She has judged for such prestigious events as BBC Young Musician of the Year, and national brass band championships for New Zealand, Australia, the US and Europe.
Simone is an endorsee for Yamaha Music Europe and it is through their generosity she is appearing in Innerleithen after the St Ronan’s Band bought Yamaha cornets and horns last year.
The band will play a number of pieces with Simone as well as a selection of other numbers. St Ronan’s Future Band is also appearing.
Tickets for the Saturday, May 19 concert in the Memorial Hall are on sale at £6 (£5 concessions) from John Adam’s Bakery in Innerleithen or from Robb’s KeyStore in Peebles.
