MELLERSTAIN House, near Gordon, is opening for an autumn family day.
The 18th-century stately home will be the venue for carriage driving, a fun dog show, car boot sale, music and children’s entertainment on Sunday.
Lady Haddington, of Mellerstain House, said: “It’s a free entry family day to encourage local people to visit Mellerstain at a time of year when it’s at its most beautiful, but normally closed to the public.”
Borders horsemen and women will start the event at 11am, driving their horse-drawn carriages on a route around the estate. The fun dog show will run from noon in the main arena, while the car boot sale and trade stands will be alongside.
“Live music will be performed at intervals throughout the afternoon,” said Lady Haddington.
And there will be bouncy castles and other fairground attractions for children
Lady Haddington said: “The Mellerstain Trust is very grateful to Border Farm Supplies for their generous sponsorship of prizes for the fun dog show and to dog trainer Mary Thomson who has kindly agreed to judge the show.”
Setting up for car boots is from 9am.
