galashiels’ Ryan Cass, pictured right, performed on both Saturday and Sunday of the Rockness Festival after winning a DJ competition, writes Andrew Anderson.

Ryan, better known as Ryzo when behind the decks, came top of 20 finalists who each submitted their best mix.

He followed in the footsteps of brother Steve and fellow Galalean Neil Rankin, who both won the chance to perform at Rockness in previous years.

Rockness’ line-up included Paolo Nutini, Kasabian and The Wombats.

Ryan will also be performing in the dance tent at the Sound Festival on Saturday, July 2, in the Scott Park, Galashiels.

Added to the line-up has been 80s cover band The Rubix Cubes.

Sound’s main stage set list is as follows: Fat Lips 1.30pm to 2pm; Angus Gunn 2.10pm to 2.25pm; Angie and the Stray Tones 2.30pm to 3.15pm; Justine Blaszk 3.25pm to 3.40pm; Joe Mangels 3.45pm to 4.30pm; Madeleine Dow 4.40pm to 5pm; Miss Gaga 5.10pm to 6.10pm; This R 2 Tone 6.20pm to 7.20pm; The Rubix Cubes 7.40pm to 8.40pm; Kazabian 9pm to 10pm.
