Disability sport needs volunteers

SPORT in the Borders is embarking on a new era for people of all ages with disabilities, but the local branch needs more volunteers.

British and European badminton champion Alan Oliver was recently appointed Development Officer for Disability Sport by the Borders branch of Scottish Disability Sport and a new programme of events and courses are now being created for 2012/13.

SBDSG chairman David Ferguson said: “It is a very exciting time for disabled sport in the Borders with a new network of opportunities being created, but we are losing a few committee members at this month’s AGM, so we need people to come along and help to build it.

“Anyone with any interest in supporting sport for people with physical, learning or sensory disability in any way would be very welcome.”

The AGM takes place at Kelso RFC clubrooms on Wednesday, June 20, at 7pm.
