I suspect many people, including myself, received very few election communications from political parties. Also nothing about yes/no on alternative voting.
First past the post at the last general election:
UKIP, 919.546 votes, 0 MPs; Democratic Unionist Party, 168,216, 8; Scottish National Party, 491,386, 6; Sinn Fein, 171,942, 5; Plaid Cymru, 165,394, 3; Social Democratic and Labour Party, 110,970, 3.
UKIP came second in two of the last three by-elections and the European election. Democracy?
