THREE people have been arrested after fake £20 notes were distributed in Galashiels and Selkirk.
Two 19-year-old men from Tweedbank and Selkirk and a 31-year-old woman were detained after counterfeit Royal Bank of Scotland cash worth hundreds of pounds was handed over to a number of premises in both towns between last Friday and Sunday.
Police are warning the public and shop owners to look out for the dodgy money, which they described as “poor quality” and bearing the serial numbers B/93 680203 and B/68 183909.
A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman added: “We would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter so far.
“Should any counterfeit notes with the serial numbers mentioned be recovered, can they be taken to the nearest police station quoting incident number 0501.”
The 31-year-old woman has also been charged with a minor drugs offence and will be reported to the procurator fiscal.
