Selkirk accountant in fraud charge

An accountant from Selkirk has been accused of forming a fraudulent scheme to obtain £60,000.

Forty-two-year-old William Main of Priory Park, appeared in private at the town’s sheriff court to face a charge of committing the offence between March 2013, and April 2015.

He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.

Main – who has been a director of Selkirk-based Stark Main and Co since 2006 – was released on bail by Sheriff Peter Paterson.

In 2015, Main was named Scotland’s best accountant of the year at the Scottish Accountancy and Finance Awards.
