ONE of the largest drug finds in Lothian and Borders Police’s history was made in the Borders yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.
Over 100kg of cannabis and 5kg of methedrone with an estimated value of £200,000 was recovered from a Vauxhall Astra which officers stopped on the A702 north of West Linton.
A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act and he will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday in connection with alleged offences.
A police spokesman told us: “This is one of the largest drug recoveries in the force’s history and was made possible thanks to intelligence received from the public.
“Intelligence is essential in combating crime and ensuring that drugs meant for our communities are seized by police.
“Anyone with information relating to drug crime or other criminal activity should contact police or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers in complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.”
