MYSTERY continues to surround the disappearance of a man from his home in Peebles, writes Bob Burgess.
Steven Hope, 43, has failed to make contact with family or friends since he was last seen around 9pm on Wednesday, August 24 in the Greenside area of the town.
Police say they now have serious concerns for his safety and have launched a fresh appeal for assistance.
Mr Hope has family connections in Edinburgh and West Lothian but police enquiries in those areas have drawn blanks.
A police spokesman told TheSouthern: “Despite three weeks of enquiries, officers have yet to trace Steven and we would urge him to make contact with family or the police and let us know he is safe.
“Anyone with information that would assist us in locating Steven is urged to come forward.”
Stockily-built Steven is 5ft 10in with green eyes and is normally clean shaven.
He has two distinguishing marks – an eight-inch skin graft on his right arm and a Celtic tattoo between his shoulder blades. He may be wearing a green-brown fishing jacket.
Police say it is out of character for him to be away from home for such a lengthy period without being in touch with his family or friends.
