Man charged as heroin worth more than £11,000 is seized in Galashiels

More than £11,000 worth of heroin was seized from a property in Gala Park Gardens, Galashiels, on Wednesday.

Paul Hodkinson, 44, was arrested following the recovery of the Class A drugs found during the intelligence-led search.

More than £2,000 in cash and other items of drug paraphernalia were also removed from the address and Hodkinson was subsequently charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin under the Misuse of Drugs Act. He is also accused of being in possession of cannabis

Hodkinson appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court yesterday (Thursday), where he made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.

He was released on bail by Sheriff Peter Peter Paterson.

Inspector Bryan Burns from Galashiels Police Station said: “This latest drugs arrest comes once again, off the back of intelligence provided to us from the local community.

Residents of Galashiels have made it perfectly clear they will not tolerate drug crime on their streets and we continue to act on the information they provide us with to target anyone involved in the production or distribution of illegal substances.
