A Hawick man has appeared in court accused of a post office robbery involving almost £3,000.
David Connolly, 30, is charged with assaulting two named males by spraying the contents of an aerosol can into their faces and threatening to set them alight, before stealing £2,870.
The incident is alleged to have happened at the Gala Park Post Office in Balmoral Place, Galashiels, on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 2.
He is also charged with committing an offence while on bail.
Connolly, of Bright Street, made no plea or declaration when he appeared on petition at Selkirk Sheriff Court.
The case was continued for further examination and he was remanded in custody by Sheriff Kevin Drummond.
