SIX more people have appeared in court after being arrested by police in the Borders under Operation Goal, writes Bob Burgess.
They were all charged with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act. It brings the number of suspects who have appeared in court to 31.
The six men were arrested following raids in Beech Avenue and Gala Park Court in Galashiels; Honeylees Drive in Tweedbank and Hawick’s Cheviot Road, Charles Street and Drumlanrig Place.
They are aged 20, 27, 29, 39, 50 and 57 and were arrested between Wednesday and Sunday.
In the opening stage of Operation Goal, swoops took place in Hawick, Kelso, Selkirk, Melrose and Galashiels.
Detective Chief Inspector Amanda McGrath commented: “When Operation Goal was launched we made a promise to our communities that this was not a one-off operation.
“We have continued to make good on that promise and utilise the information we receive to identify and bring to justice those involved in drug crime within the Scottish Borders.”
