Girl, 10 injured

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young girl suffered serious injuries in a road accident in Jedburgh.

The 10-year-old was knocked down at 5.15pm last Thursday near the bridge at the town’s swimming pool.

She was taken to Borders General Hospital but was transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.

Her condition was said to be critical but stable on Friday, but is understood to have since improved.

The car which collided with the girl was a silver Honda Civic travelling south on the A68.

Lothian and Borders Police said: “We would have expected the area to be quite busy in the early evening last night, and we are keen to hear from anyone who was there, and who saw what happened,.”

Anyone with any information should contact Lothian and Borders Police on 0131 311 3131, or Crimestoppers, in confidence and complete anonymity, on 0800 555 111.
