TWO members of a gang who chased a man through a Galashiels street before assaulting him and forcibly removing a bag from him received six-month jail sentences at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
Thirty-two-year-old Jamie Wilkinson and 30-year-old Kevin Millar, both described as prisoners, changed their pleas to guilty to a reduced charge shortly before a trial by jury was about to get under way.
A third member – Barry Hayward, who is 28, of Kenilworth Avenue, Hawick, also admitted punching Ambel Ramirez-Curtes on the body and had sentence deferred for background reports until January 18.
A not guilty plea from Lee Smith, who is 30, of Dixon Street, Hawick, was accepted by the Crown.
The offence happened in the Gala Park area of Galashiels on September 11.
As Wilkinson and Millar have been in custody since being arrested shortly after the assault, they are now eligible for release.
