Cash stolen in heist at butcher’s shop

Police are hunting a raider or raiders who swooped on a popular butcher’s shop in the Borders at Christmas.

The festive crooks struck at the premises of G. W. Miller in Main Street, St Boswells, on Christmas Eve.

Detectives say the haul from Saturday’s early-morning break-in involved what they describe as a large amount of money.

A police investigation is ongoing and a spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police told us: “Anyone who was in the area of Main Street and remembers seeing anything suspicious or anyone who has information is asked to contact us.”

Information can be passed to the police on 0131 311 313 or, in confidence and with anonymity, to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
