peebles couple Alan and Edna Dickinson will tackle the Great North Run on Sunday to raise cash for people with prostate cancer.
Survivor Alan was diagnosed in May 2009 and on his recovery trained as a volunteer with The Prostate Cancer Charity, providing literature for information stands and giving awareness talks.
His wife Edna is a keen recreational jogger and has completed five and 10 kilometre events for Race for Life.
But for both the 13-plus miles of the largest half marathon in Europe will be a challenge.
Alan said: “I am not so keen on running and will rely on my wife’s support and motivating tactics to keep me on course.”
The pair will form part of the Prostate Cancer Charity team.
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with 36,000 diagnosed every year. One man dies every hour of prostate cancer in the UK.
