I am inviting people in the Borders, to hold a Big Bug Hunt event for local toddlers, to help in the fight against meningitis.
Schools, nurseries and clubs have the chance to support Meningitis UK to stamp out a deadly disease which puts the under-fives most at risk.
Nurseries and playgroups in the area can get involved this spring to help educate youngsters and adults about the disease while raising money for vaccine research.
The Big Bug Hunt can take the shape of a variety of events and activities tailored to children’s abilities and interests.
Ideas include a sponsored bug hunt, fancy dress, cooking bug cakes and colouring competitions.
Money raised from the Big Bug Hunt will go towards Meningitis UK’s Search 4 A Vaccine Campaign.
There are endless opportunities for learning, whether the children are counting bug’s legs, painting and colouring or searching and exploring. It can help them to reach their early years foundation stage goals.
We can send out Cheeky Bug, our mascot, to bring the event to life, as well as free resource packs with Cheeky Bug stickers, tips on running your event, sponsorship forms and posters.
To register for the Big Bug Hunt or find out more about the event and Meningitis UK’s work, visit www.bigbughunt.org or call 0117 947 6320.
