KIND-HEARTED secondary school pupils from all over the Borders joined forces and pulled on their walking boots to raise money for the Edinburgh Sick Kids Friends Foundation.
The students – from Galashiels Academy, Selkirk High School, Peebles High School, Berwickshire High School and Kelso High School – all attend Borders College where they are taking part in a schools-plus course in child care and child development.
But they still found time to organise a sponsored walk on Thursday when they headed off from the Galashiels campus and walked to Melrose and back. As a result the charity benefited to the tune of more than £100.
Class lecturer Siobhan MacFarlane told us: “The students chose this charity as a number of them had benefited from treatment at the hospital. The weather stayed fine and the staff and students had a great day while at the same time raising money for a very worthwhile cause.”
