After six months with no community council, nominations are now open for the Jed Valley Community Council election.
Local residents have until noon on Monday, March 10 to put their name forward to become a community councillor for the area.
Nomination forms are available from Jedburgh Library Contact Centre, or by visiting www.scotborders.gov.uk/communitycouncilelections
Alternatively, you can obtain them from Councillor Jim Brown, Edgerston Roadhead Cottage, Edgerston, Jedburgh, TD8 6PW, email email@example.com or call 0300 100 0220.
Completed nomination forms should be posted in the ballot box at Jedburgh Library Contact Centre, returned to Councillor Brown at the above address or at Scottish Borders Council headquarters.
There are 12 seats available on Jed Valley Community Council. Should less than six valid nominations be received, a new community council cannot be declared and 12 months will have to pass before nominations can be called for again. If six to 12 valid nominations are received, a new community council will be declared on March 17 and a meeting of the new council will be called. If more than 12 nominations are received a ballot will take place.
