Cadets’ stroke of genius in pool

Congratulations to everyone in B (Border) company in the Army Cadets who took part in either of the swimming competitions.

The first was held at Broxburn near Edinburgh on August 20. This was against every other company in Lothian and Borders Battalion, which covers the Borders and Edinburgh.

The second competition was held at Whitehill Swimming Pool in Glasgow. This competition was against every battalion in Scotland.

Around 12 cadets from B (Border) Company attended the Broxburn competition, which included freestyle, breastroke, back crawl, butterfly and relay races. Competitors were required to achieve a first or second place to get through to the next competition. Around 10 cadets got through.

The second competition in Glasgow took place on the September 10.

All those taking part stayed at the Lothian and Borders Battalion main camp at Drumshoreland House, near Edinburgh the night before, travelling to Broxburn on the day of the competition.

Only one cadet from B (Border) company got through to the next stage which is the Nationals. This will be taking place in the next month or so. The stroke choices were the same but there was also the choice to swim individual medley which is one length of each stroke.

Once again congratulations to every cadet who took part in the competitions and good luck to the cadet from B (border) company.
