Shear generosity…

FORMER Berwickshire sheepman Tom Wilson was among top New Zealand shearers who raised $NZ12,000 (£5,700) at a speed shear in support of the families of the Pike River mine disaster at the weekend, writes Eilidh MacPherson.

The event, organised in just a week, took place at Reefton, a small community on the west coast of the South Island, on Saturday when the former World Champion, from Duns, now living in New Zealand, lined up with the world’s most prolific shearing champion, David Fagan, current world champion Cam Ferguson and former world champion Alan MacDonald.
