At their weekly Primestock sale last Wednesday John Swan Ltd had forward and sold 174 hoggs and 251 ewes and rams.
A small show of hoggs but better types showed a slight increase in average returns, gloomy for time of year.

At their weekly Primestock sale on Monday, John Swan Ltd sold 81 clean cattle, four OTM cattle, 42 beef cows, 982 old season lambs, 26 new season lambs and 277 ewes.
Bullocks (22) averaged 206.2p per kg and sold to 228p (-2p on week), heifers (58) averaged 209.5p per kg and sold to 238p (-3p on week), one young bull sold to 190p, four OTM cattle averaged 149.1p and sold to 174p (-11p on the week) and 42 beef type cows averaged 128.6p per kg and sold to 184p (+5p on the week).
Old season lambs averaged 167p per kg (+1p on the week) £82.40 per head and sold to £96.50, top price 196p per kg for Texel. New season lambs averaged 222p per kg (+15p on the week) £94.62 per head and sold to £107, top price 232p per kg for Suffolk.
Ewes averaged £75.14, and sold to £120 for Texel. Heavy ewes averaged £88.46, light ewes sold to £99 for Chv and averaged £56.10

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 15 prime cattle, three OTM cattle, 4,668 prime hoggs, 13 spring lambs and 3,010 cast ewes and rams at their weekly sale at Longtown last Thursday.
Prime cattle met a similar trade to last week, once again with new buyers in attendance, many more could have been sold.
