Bullocks (70) averaged 184.1p per kg (-0.4p on the week) and sold to 2.02p, gross £1369 from Lurdenlaw. Heifers sold to 196p from Bee Edge, gross £1237 from West Mains, Lanark
The 13 young bulls averaged 172p per kg, -2.0p on the week and sold to 182p from Bayhill, gross £1222 from Phantassie. The 104 beef type OTM cattle averaged 129.3p per kg, (+2.2p on the week) and sold to 175p from Mains of Wardhead, Insch, gross £1278 from Teindside
The 596 spring lambs averaged 254.2p per kg, and sold to £125 a head for Texels from M/s Hogg and Son, Longyester and 270p per kg for Texels from Mossburnford, Jedburgh.
The 430 prime hoggs averaged 205.3p per kg, and sold to £133 a head for Texels from M/s Dunlop, Elmscleugh, Dunbar and 232.6p per kg for a pen of Texels from Mrs Menzies, Leason House.
The 431 ewes averaged £78.20 (+£0.49 on the week), and sold to £130 for Texels from S Anderson, Stouslie, Hawick.

During the week ending May 20 Border Livestock Exchange Ltd sold 138 prime cattle, 54 cows, 486 prime lambs, 212 cast ewes and 146 store and breeding cattle.
Prime cattle continue to sell well with numbers remaining tight. Dan Gamble from Sharplaw Farm, Hownam won the junior carcase competition with a 15 month old home bred Limousin x Belgian Blue heifer which graded an E4L weighing 337.6kgs and sold to 325p per kilo £1,097.20 per head. Aberdeen Angus bullocks from Bonjedward Mill, sold to 328p to Well Hung and Tender, Berwick. Limousin x heifers from Over Whitton, Hownam, to 320p per kilo. Cast cows continue to sell to extreme rates for all types. Continental crosses to 275p per kilo Sharplaw, Hownam, and Swinhoe Farm, Belford. Dairy cows from Kelloe Mains, Duns, sold to 235p per kilo and £874 per head.
New season lambs also maintaining recent high prices with Texel x from Eastfield of Lempitlaw, Kelso, selling to 560p per kilo and £119.70 per head. Meatlinc x also sold to 560p from Cliftoncote, Yetholm.
Store cattle are short of numbers with buyers desperately trying to source even batches of 16 – 18 month old stores. Charollais bulls sold to £920 with yearling bullocks and heifers reaching 210p per kilo Live weight. Cows and calves have sold particularly well with 3rd to 7th calving Aberdeen Angus x and Limousin x cows reaching £1,560 per outfit. Aberdeen Angus bulls to £3,000 and Limousin bulls to £3,000.
At their weekly Primestock Sale held at Wooler last Wednesday John Swan Ltd had forward and sold 96 lambs, 212 hoggs and 135 ewes.

The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 52 prime cattle, 28 over 30 month cattle, 263 spring lambs, 3,618 prime hoggs and 4,045 cast ewes and rams at their weekly sale at Longtown last Thursday.
