Channelkirk primary schoolboy Toby Dawson won John Swan’s young auctioneers competition in the St Boswells company’s first Christmas Cracker, which saw four finalists – pictured right – auction a lamb, raising £620 for Child Poverty in Scotland.

John Swan MD Jack Clark (pictured below with Toby) said: “It was a total success.” Meanwhile, Kelso farmer John Elliot of Roxburgh Mains took the championship at the show and sale with an Aberdeen Angus cross bullock.
