A PAINTING of a blackface ram is on sale to raise money for the farming charity RSABI. The artwork on show at the Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder this month.

Invergowrie artist Alexander Ross said: “I decided to donate the painting as I thought it a good cause.” Recent works by Mr Ross, an artist for more than 20 years, have included a Royal Highland Show prize champion and pedigree livestock.

Last year, the charity distributed more than £413,000 to 550 households of Scots who have depended on the land for their livelihoods including farmers, farm workers, foresters, gamekeepers and other estate workers – and their widows – who found themselves unable to cope.

The painting measures 175cm x 120cm and RSABI wants about £2,500 for it. Anyone interested should contact the charity’s chief executive, Maurice Hankey, on 0131 472 4166.
