Galashiels-based Chartered Marketer, Sarah Mathieson, has received a Fulbright Award that will see her study at the world’s No1 school for entrepreneurial studies.
The award is a huge achievement for the mother of two, who leaves for Babson College, in Boston, USA, next month for an eight-month long programme at one of the most prestigious and selective scholarship programmes in the world.
Sarah is delighted to have won the Saltire Fellowship, telling The Southern: “Since learning I received the award, I have been hugely excited by the prospect of being able to learn from within a worldwide centre of business management and entrepreneurial excellence.
“I am also very fortunate to have been selected to be the Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) Saltire Fellow, which will provide access to MIT via its Industrial Liaison Program.
“I am incredibly grateful for the support of The Saltire Foundation, HIE, my local education trust and the Fulbright Commission for giving me this opportunity.”
To win the award, Sarah had to show not only academic excellence but a focused application, a range of extracurricular and community activities, demonstrated ambassadorial skills, a desire to further the Fulbright Programme and a plan to give back to the recipient’s home country upon returning.
A start-up enthusiast and chartered marketer, Sarah has been working at board level in Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director roles within Scottish-based marketing, and science and tech companies.
In addition to her current role as director at Vantage Events Ltd, she also heads up marketing in a new venture, Snscr Ltd., which is setting out to translate real-world actions in software.
In Boston, Sarah is aiming to explore the digital health sector from a global perspective.
