Foxhounds head for Yetholm

FOXHOUNDS will be making an appearance at Yetholm Shepherds’ Show on Saturday.

The traditional hill shepherds’ show in the Haugh will also feature a steel band and dog agility for the first time.

Entries are slightly down on last year but secretary Sarah Little remains optimistic. “We’re hoping for a good day, for nice weather and for people to enjoy themselves,” she said.

The man judging the overall sheep champion is Billy Hamilton of Kirtoun, Bonchester Bridge.

The Scottish Crookmakers Association’s Champion of Champions competition takes place when show-goers will have the chance to see the winning sticks from the season’s agricultural shows.

Entries for the Youth Brae House Race will be taken on the day.

As usual the event will feature sheepdog trials and the terrier show starts at 2.30pm.

z Langholm Show scheduled for last Saturday was cancelled because of wet ground. The show committee had hoped to go ahead as late as the Wednesday but reluctantly cancelled it that night.
