Celebrity chef Joe helps Paolo with wine choice

Fresh from being named the UK’s top pizza chef last year, Galashiels restaurateur Paolo Crolla is trying to ensure his customers have the best wines to accompany his food.

In order to do this, he organised his restaurant’s first wine-tasting event, and invited food distributor Delitatia UK, plus a representative of the Santa Barbara vineyard in Italy.

And to help his customers make an informed choice, he brought along his pal Joe Hurd, who is a celebrity chef seen often on the telly.

Delitalia sent its UK managing director Martino Mainiero as well as its Scottish sales manager, Carlo Corace, while Roberto Rotatori travelled from Italy for the event from Santa Barbara vineyard.

The wines were a huge hit with the customers who attended the evening.

Paolo told us: “On behalf of my team and myself I would like to thank everyone who attended our wine tasting event.

“A huge thank you to Martino Mainiero from Delitalia UK and TV chef/presenter Joey Hurd for assisting me in the organisation of such a sophisticated evening.

“We were honored to be amongst the company of Roberto Rotatori, representing Santa Barbara vineyard. Roberto travelled all the way from Italy to be with us and for this we are sincerely grateful.

“I am overwhelmed by the generosity and support I have received from Martino, Roberto and Carlo Corace, and I thank them for providing our customers with a unique, professional wine tasting experience.

“Our guests were truly blown away by the selection of Stefano Antonucci wines that were cleverly paired alongside our set menu, each wine perfectly complimenting and enhancing every dish.

“Our customer’s favourite was the Animale Celeste Sauvignon.

“We are excited about the prospect of holding another wine evening soon.”
