BORDErs entrepreneurs will get a chance to build up their skills this summer with a series of free workshops focusing on the hottest topics facing the local business community.
Over the past few months, new and existing business owners throughout the area have been seeking help and advice from their local Business Gateway Office concerning: finance, presentation skills and customer relations.
Business Gateway’s expert advisers believe these issues will continue to be the main concerns for local businesses throughout July and August.
Sandra Campbell, business adviser, Business Gateway, says time and time again the same issues were coming up from local business owners who were seeking the organisation’s help and advice and that is why it had tailored the summer programme of events to reflect this.
“We believe the Business Gateway courses will help new and budding entrepreneurs understand and overcome these issues and in turn help them launch or develop their ventures,” she said.
The free events will be available alongside the one-to-one advice and online support Business Gateway provides throughout the year.
The workshops, at Ettrick Riverside, Selkirk, include:
Improve Your Customer Service Skills, Tuesday, July 26: This workshop will highlight the benefits of good customer service and identify how this can affect the business as a whole.
Business Start Up Finance, Wednesday, July 27: Learn to manage a profit-and-loss account; produce a cashflow statement; understand the meaning of working capital; describe the main sources of finance; and understand the different legal structures of a business,
