DUE to the severe weather yesterday (Tuesday), Scottish Borders Council (SBC) is having to extend resurfacing work on the A703 between Waterheads and Nether Falla by an extra day.

The work, which has closed the road to all traffic except service buses and school transport between 8.30am and 5pm this week, was due to end on Friday, but rain and gale foce winds meant the works were suspended on Tuesday to allow all traffic to use this stretch of the road. As a result, the work will now be completed on Monday, October 1.

Diversions are in place during the closures: Northbound – Drivers should head south on the A703 to Peebles; West on the A72 to Blyth Bridge; North on the A701 to Leadburn and South on the A703 to the point of closure. Southbound - The reverse of this.

SBC apologises for any disruption while the work is taking place.
