In response to the letter published on October 2 entitled “Health boards failing children”, expressing concern about waiting times for appointments with Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Scotland, I would like to highlight that in the Borders waiting times are currently below the target of 18 weeks set by the Scottish Government and have been since the start of 2013.
This is thanks to the hard work and dedication of staff and management at the Andrew Lang Unit in Selkirk.
The target is indeed a challenging one for many health boards, so we are proud to say that our local service is doing well in this respect, and we will continue to focus on providing the best possible access to services for vulnerable children and young people.
