Book sale bonus for Kerr appeal

We would like to express our appreciation for the help that was given so enthusiastically at last month’s Kelso book sale.

The support of the Four Border Abbeys U3A chairman and committee was an encouraging start, followed by the co-operation from Kate Borthwick, caretaker at the Abbey Row Centre.

Advertising was made easy by The Southern Reporter’s Sally Gillespie; by Richard Sked ofKelso Life; by the community website wizard Charlie Denoon; and by Radio Borders. The traders of Kelso and Yetholm, Kelso library and surgery, Scottish Building Society all found somewhere to put a notice. On Saturday morning, amidst the the opening of Kelso Market, Eleanor Jarvis found time to distribute flyers to stallholders and get a sandwich board up.

Consequently, many people came and bought and donated handsomely – we are able to forward £284 to the Margaret Kerr Unit.
